BRIAN E MONAGHAN
SCULPTURE
Brian assisted Richard Hunt from 1974 through 1977 in building a variety of large indoor and outdoor metal sculptures. Brian remained in Chicago creating his own works and fabricating outdoor sculptures. Brian's studio, on the southwest side of Chicago allows his work to expand into larger outdoor scale.
His sculpture focuses on creating three-dimensional poems by using “direct metal” techniques. Themes in his work are drawn from everyday life experiences such as enjoying people dancing and playing in groups or individually. Trees and grasses bending against winds or snow drifts forming have inspired his sculptural poetry. Expressing energy from nature and the human experience energizes his sculptural purpose.
